The village of Cirali lies on the Mediterranean coast. Largely undeveloped compared to much of the coast, it provided a nice relaxing getaway.
The unspoiled, undeveloped beach at Cirali
Journaling and relaxing
The clear blue Mediterranea Sea
Just looking at this makes me feel relaxed
We took a leisurely boat tour around the coast
Sections of an ancient Roman wall still perch up on the hill
We threw down the anchor at a few spots and stopped for a couple hours to swim and relax
Jump in!
A tight squeeze
A cave that we swam through
Heading back to the beach
Leaving the boat for shore
Chickens ran loose in many places around the village
Koko was separated at birth! (This guy, Whiskey, was someone's pet)
The back street, which was also kind of the main street.
Green beans that were actually tasty, spiced fried potatoes, and creamy yogurt dip
Stuffed peppers!
Kofta, Turkish meatballs
Sea bass and Efes
The freshest dessert I've ever had
We brought our own snacks back to our room --Turkish branded Nutella, biscuits, Pirouettes, and peanuts
The entrance to Olympos, an ancient Roman city
The ruins of the city are spread around the forest
All of the tombs have been plundered
A monastery, perhaps, high up on a hillside
Climbing around what looked like an old church with a couple tombs around it
The frieze (sculpted story around the outside) meant this person was probably important
Roman bath
Walking through the modern village of Olympos, famous for its treehouse hostels
Hiking up a mountain at night to find...
The Chimeras
The gas vents have been burning for thousands of years
Kim in front of a Chimera
It got a bit dark when our flashlight batteries died
