Harvesting seaweed to eat at Fornaes, Denmark
May the 5. my wife and I went to Fornaes, the most eastern point of Djursland out in Kattegat. I had seen using Google Earth the seaweed there is so plenty it almost is crawling up on the beach. It actually was an overwhelming rich harvest I had, not only of Dulse. Have I said earlier, we do not have Dulse of a wellgrown quality in our inner waters because of the lower salinity, well then it will be the talk of an ignorant person from now on. As I'll show here we do have wellgrown, beautiful Dulse, with an excellent, salty, nutty taste. Later I've learned from a diver, that excactly at Fornaes there is a rich population of Laminaria digitata and Saccharina latissima with Dulse holding fast to the stipes of them. Thanks to Jane Teas, Colombia, and to Prannie Rhatigan from Ireland who has encouraged me to make english versions of my seaweedgalleries. This is the first one being published. The rest will follow. And updates will come along the way of life.
