Mt. Apo Climb

Pastor Ken Sandberg, along with his Dad (Bryan) and son (Casey), six other men from Church 153, and Pastor George Pepico of Journey Church climbed the highest peak in the Philippines, Mt. Apo from April 11-13, 2012. Eight of the group made it to the top on April 12.

Frontline Shepherds Tribal Leadership Conference 2011

Global Advance, in cooperation with Go To Nations (Calvary International) provided leadership training for 405 pastors and key leaders from 20 Mindanao tribal groups from Nov. 9-11, 2011 at One Way Outreach Camp, Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City, Philippines. The power and presence of God was there!

Church 153

Pastors Ken & Cris Sandberg launched Church 153 on April 3, 2011 at their home in Lanang, Davao City, Philippines. There were 28 people at the first service and by May 15th there were 54 attending. Currently (September) there are more than 100 coming on Sunday mornings.

YOUTHQUAKE Camp 2011

YOUTHQUAKE Camp was held from May 23-26 at Camp Alano in Toril, Davao City, Philippines. More than 200 young people attended and 32 gave their lives to Christ for the first time. Everyone had fun, Jesus was glorified in the praise and worship and teaching, and the concensus is that we need to do this camp again next year!

Global Pathway

Dr. Jerry Williamson, Rev. Jim Oxendine, and Rev. Craig Kuehn taught at an amazing three-day event in Davao City (March 17-19, 2011) called Global Pathway. This was a training for pastors to help them start an effective missions program in their local churches.

Women's Conference

We were recently blessed to host six ladies from Alabama who came to Davao for a week. They were the guest speakers at the Global Advance Women's Conference which was held in the Releaser of Life Family Church building from Nov. 17-19, 2010. We saw 248 women gather from many points of Mindanao Island. They were greatly touched by the ministry of the ladies from the USA (Pastor Stacy Hebert, Pastor Sandra Whitehill, Rev. Shawn Collier, Jamison Barnes, Jessica Nguyen and Jennifer Taylor, who all spoke) along with my wife, Rev. Cris Sandberg.

Living Stones Orphanage Outing to Philippine Eagle Park & Davao Crocodile Park (zoos)

On Oct. 5, 2010 several Living Stones staff joined directors Ken & Cris Sandberg and the Dunne family from Australia, along with the LSO kids from 2-5 years old, on a fun-filled outing to two of Davao City's best zoo parks. Big thanks to the Dunnes for sponsoring these activities. A great time was had by all (except when being scared by snakes!)

CBI Mission Trip to Bantol & Malakiba, Marilog, Mindanao Island, Philippines

From April 26-29, a group of 30 missionaries which included myself and four men from the USA (three of whom were pastors) as well as 25 students and alumni from Calvary Bible Institute went up to the clouds in Marilog District to take the gospel to the mostly tribal people there.

Calvary Bible Institute 2010 Graduation

16 students of CBI-Davao graduated at the 14th Commencement Exercises held at Garden Oases in Davao City on March 27, 2010. This brought the total of graduates from the CBI Mindanao schools to 255 since the first class finished the program in 1997.

Youthquake Camp 2009

We had a fabulous summer camp for teens at Camp Alano, Davao City from May 18-21, 2009. Special guests (18 of them!) came from Servant Leadership Institute (SLI) at Koinonia Christian Fellowship in Bloomingdale, Ontario, Canada. All in all, there were 250 at the camp. God moved powerfully in the praise and worship, through the teaching, and we all had a blast with the incredibly fun games. The youth went away saved, filled with God's Spirit and on fire for God!

God is doing awesome things at Living Stones. Maria Viktoria was healed of a heart problem, Rodan was adopted by a couple from Australia, and some new kids have arrived in the home where they now have a hope and a future!

Global Advance & Calvary International Women's Conference

We will host a Women’s Conference from April 29-May 1, 2009 at Releaser of Life Family Church, 524 Cabaguio Ave., Davao City. Meetings will be held daily from 8:30 AM- 5 PM and lunch will be provided each day. Registration is only P100 and this event is open to women pastors and any women involved in Christian ministry. Christian Badjao Girls Graduate from Elementary School

The Badjao tribe, who live along the seashore in stilted homes in a poverty stricken area of Davao, rely on the sea for their sustenance (they fish and dive for pearls and shells to sell) and are mostly illiterate. Many of them are Muslim or animistic (worshiping things in nature). We have had a ten-year relationship with Pastor Joseph Kunong (a CTLT graduate) and many other Badjaos who are bravely living as believers in Jesus Christ. They now have about 400 attending two Davao churches. As most Badjao children do not attend school, Cris and I have been sponsoring some of them each year to get an education. Our giving covers school books, uniforms, transportation, lunches, etc.

Calvary Bible Institute-Davao and Maa Jail Graduations 2009

On March 28, 2009 we graduated five students from our main CBI school (which meets at Releaser of Life Family Church in Davao City) and on April 7, we graduated another five from CBI in the Maa Jail in Davao. Praise God for the faithfulness of these students to complete all the required courses of study. May the Lord use them greatly in the ministry.

LakeShore Church team and Sandbergs at Boracay for Frontline Shepherds Conference, March 2009

From March 16-22/09 we were at Boracay Island in the central Philippines. During three of those days we hosted a Global Advance Frontline Shepherds Conference at Faith Retreat Center with 341 pastors and church leaders who came from seven provinces of the Philippines. There were also special afternoon sessions for the women at La Carmela Resort. It was a beautiful setting for a powerful conference. We were blessed to have an anointed teaching team from LakeShore Church in Rockwall, Texas speak at the special meetings.

Island Hopping in Davao Gulf

Sometimes you just gotta' get away for some fun and recreation. On August 13, 2008 we went on an "island hopping" tour to Talikud and Samal Islands in the Davao Gulf of Mindanao along with a visiting mission team from Global Advance in Dallas, Texas. Joining Cris and I were Jonathan Shibley, Wayne Hamit, and David & Mary Claire Hall, along with Pastors Tito and Nelrose Sasam and some friends from Releaser of Life Family Church in Davao. The scenery was beautiful! I only wish we had an underwater camera so we could show you the coral reefs where we went snorkeling, too. (Photos by Macky Bongabong and Ken Sandberg)

Living Stones Orphanage Pictures

An album of pictures from Living Stones Orphanage which we direct in Davao City. You can also visit our website at www.livingstonesorphanage.org We usually have between 12 and 20 kids in the home and the majority of them are infants and toddlers. They have been abandoned, or were orphaned, or unwanted. Living Stones gives them a hope and a future. Most of the kids will be adopted . . . some locally, and most internationally! L41 Mission trip to Davao

From July 19-28, 2008 we hosted the L41 (Living For the One) youth mission team from Life Church in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. (L41! Thanks for coming. You guys were a blessing!) This team was such a blast to have with us! They were excellent ministers of the Word of God. They used puppets, drama, singing, music, preaching, and teaching to minister at schools, basketball courts, churches and at our orphanage, as well as through TV and radio to impact thousands of people (mostly kids)! Mission trips like this are life-changers for those who are reached through the ministry and for those who come on the trip as well. The members of this team will never be the same. Consider going on a mission trip yourself some time! God can use YOU!

Kalibo, Philippines Typhoon Frank Devastation and Subsequent Relief Effort

On June 21, 2008, Kalibo, Aklan was hammered by Super Typhoon Frank. Kalibo is the hometown of my wife, Cris. It is where I lived for two years (1988-1990) when I first came to the Philippines. Cris' family (mother, step-father, brother, sisters, in-laws, cousins) all still live there. These pictures were taken when Cris went to Kalibo with some relief supplies from July 1-7. The city was an absolute disaster area. It took a direct hit from the storm which was packing winds up to 205 km./hr. and then was flooded up to 12 feet deep in some places. We are planning a second relief effort there in early September. Donations are being received through Calvary International (our organization) for this effort. Youthquake 2008

This year's summer youth camp (held at Camp Alano from May 28-31) was probably the best one we've ever done. We had 292 campers attending from ages 13 through the 20s (as long as they were single). These kids were passionate about having fun and pressing in for more of God during the praise and worship times. Our special guest speaker was Pastor Tim Kinney from Alabama, USA. The presence of God was powerful at this camp. We had 80 first time decisions for Christ and 110 get filled with the Holy Spirit!

Harvest 2007 Frontline Shepherds Tribal Leadership Conference

From Nov. 7-9, 2007 we hosted 500 Christian tribal leaders from 20 of the 34 tribes of Mindanao Island at the One Way Outreach Camp in Davao City. This event was put together through a strategic networking relationship between Global Advance and Calvary International. Special guest speakers came from the USA to speak along with Cris and I (Ken).
