On the boat to the European side of the city... decided not to "correct" the orientation of this photo, somehow it just didn't look right - as Kristy said, it's not good to alter reality.
I believe (but don't quote me) that is Agia Sophia on the right... and another impressive mosque on the left.
It's a twenty minute ride on the ferry... just enough time for a smoke and some warm chai.
Typical cafe scene in Istanbul: a game of tavla, Turkish coffee or maybe chai (as you like), and maybe a tourist or two looking at a map of the city...

Agia Sofia. These medallions were about 20 ft wide, and hoisted at least 30 feet up in the air! These were two in a set of four. We need a friend who can read Arabic to translate for us...
