June 2007, Chania House - I think this may have been the first official dinner party, but maybe it was just the first rooftop event. L-R: Zahir, Fasil, Kristy (showing the proper way to drink fine Cretan wine), Cristina, and Mr. Maich himself - Maher.
July 2007 - Chania House. Dinner party, barbecue on the roof! Clockwise from top: Maher (Tunisia), Kristy (Cypriot-American), Zahir (Algeria), Cristina (Spain), David (flakas Americanos).
Maher's self-portrait
Kristy's...
Maher got a laugh (as did we all) from taking photos of us all while standing above us on a ledge of our roof. Here we see "little Zahir."
Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2007 - Chania House. Stephane, Kristy, Ata, David... the unofficial "out-of-towners" / surrogate family for the holidays. On a completely self-absorbed note: as I put these photos up I realized I am wearing that same dark red hoodie in several photos taken from dates months apart... I really do change clothes, it just happens that our living room is very much like a cave and that hoodie is very warm. I guess it has become something like a de facto dinner jacket.
A nice game of Uno after dinner.
February 2008, Chania House. Hanna, Maher, Kristy, David - dinner party.
Easter Sunday April 27, 2008. Chania House. Ata, Stephane, Kristy, and David in our official "Family Portrait" :) More here: http://www.thekristydave.com/2008/04/easter-dinner-with-the-family/
I'm not sure what's going on here... but Ata seems to like it.
July 5, 2008: One Year Anniversary BBQ / US Independence Day Party. On our roof at our flat in Splanzia. Taught our non-American friends (that is, everybody there other than Kristy and me) the grand old tradition of roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.
July 5, 2008. Unbelievable: there was still food left over, despite Maher's arrival.
July 5, 2008. There were hot coals in that bbq... not quite roasting, more like slow-cooked marshmallows. Warm and gooey result.
