The Piper Commanche that we flew from Twin Oaks up to Arlington. It's not an RV, but very nice nonetheless!
On takeoff from Twin Oaks, Oregon
Climing out from Twin Oaks, headed north.
Mountains off the right wingtip... Mt. St. Helens on the right, Mt. Adams in the distance on the left.
A closeup of Mt. St. Helens.
Mt. Rainier.
Mt. St. Helens and the Toutle River.
Mt. Rainier
Beautiful scenery below after passing over an overcast layer.
Mt. Rainier again.
I couldn't stop taking pics of Mt. Rainier! So many views from different angles at various points along the way.
Downtown Seattle off in the distance. We were skirting around the class B to the east.
Approaching Arlington, off the wingtip.
On base, about to turn final.
On final.
After landing and getting registered, the first thing we saw was this B-29 rumbling by.
Beautiful Glasair!
Kitfox was there. Several nice planes were present.
I had never seen this. It's a Sherpa. Incredible airplane. Unbelievable baggage capacity. Half the fuselage side opens up, it seems. Check out those tundra tires! They almost came up to my belt.
I think you could crawl inside the exhaust pipe. It's huge! Big turbo engine creates over 800 H.P. That's not a misprint. They were playing a DVD showing a takeoff in about 100 ft, and a climb rate that you won't believe.
You sit way up high in this bird!
This Navy plane was folding its wings as it taxied down the taxiway. Incredible.
This plane belongs on the cover of a major magazine. Watch for it.
I took lots of pics of various RV's, studying paint jobs.
Not sure what this is, but it was gorgeous.
This gorgeous pair of biplanes was featured in a recent magazine article.
Another beautiful paint job!
RV-8 called "High Roller". Incredible artistic paint job!
This is my friend Stephen Christophers RV-7. They took me over to their hanger to hang out for a while. He lit up his panel for me. NICE!! He will be starting his engine for the first time very soon, and his first flight will follow not long after that.
Stephen is a great guy. I had a great time with him and his wife and a couple of other friends.
GORGEOUS prop. A Whirlwind RV series, hanging on the end of that big 390 engine.
I don't know this aircraft either, but it sure was beautiful.
Look at that interior. Wow!
Nice paint job to match.
Talk about an open air view, imagine flying in this bird!
Flying home early evening, my eyes were once again focused on Mt. Rainier as we flew by.
The crusty broken top of Mt. St. Helens, poking up through the thin cloud layer
Incredible!
Mostly clear flight all the way home.
What a great day! Hope to do this again soon. Can't wait until my RV is flying so I can do this all the time.
