Lots of trees in the coastal range have moss. Around the Oregon caves the most was everywhere.
The caves are fascinating. Lots of weird shapes and formations.
Stalagtites take thousands of years to form. These are probably 10,000 years old or older.
Lots of old barns in this area. This one was particularly photogenic. That's a Gary Oak tree in front. Very common in this part of Oregon.
This was our fifth guy trip. I only have one more before my buddy flies the coop. My dad and I have so much fun spending time with Patrick. I really look forward to these drives.... He finally got to drive on this trip.
Went down into the Stout Redwood Grove on the border between California and Oregon on the coast. Redwoods are so majestic. It is hard to describe how big these trees are.
These big stands of Redwoods are so big that sound does not echo in the woods. the trees just suck up all the vibrations. Its very quiet.
I noticed there were no squirrels around. No wonder... would you want to climb this?
Flowers on the ocean are few and far between. They take a real beating and seem to have a real short growing season.
My dad enjoys taking pictures as well. Enjoyed
New brand of tires for me. I usually get a different brand and decided to try something new. That's a new powder coat on the rims as well.
I stand for a long time on the beach shooting wave pictures. I take dozens of pictures waiting for the perfect splash....sigh.
This area was called the Devil's Punchbowl. The waves are focused in a crevice that runs inland. Great waves and rocks.
This bird was diving in the punchbowl. I think it was timing the waves and catching the small fish that were washed into the punchbowl by the waves.
This is one of my favorite bridges on the coast. It connects one part of Newport to another. The art deco look of the concrete and the graceful arches are typical of the bridges that were built by the Conservation Corp along the coast.
