There must be 3 small motors of the same kind in there somewhere?!
Close enough :-)
Found 3 speed controllers too...
Lots of old helicopter parts to use to make the tail pivot.
Going to use a HK-450 blade holder for the pivot and left over tail booms for the arms.
The frame is 3/32 ply and basswood strips. There are hardwood dowels inside the aluminum tail booms glued in with Gorilla Glue. Waiting for the epoxy and the GG to dry.
Starting to come together. I have a lot of 2mm coroplast so putting that into the design.
Here is my tail pivot assembly.
Tie wraps, hot glue. It's all good.
How it all goes together underneath.
Black will be the bottom and yellow the top for visibility.
In theory everything can break free without too much damage in a crash.
The top is clean except I didn't have any yellow tie wraps :-( Oh well it will add a bit more visual contrast.
Here it is almost ready for the "brain". It will be the MultiWiiCopter.
That's a 12" ruler for scale. It will be small and fast ;-)
Here it is ready to go after the first test flight.
The TCopter has that nice open front for a camera.
The biggest change as a result of testing was I had to change from 8x4 props to 9x5. Unfortunately they are all the same colour.
The partially hidden brain :-)
