On Friday Aug. 13 we took the train from Delft to Amsterdam. This is the train station in Delft, about 10 minute walk from our hotel.
Our train, the ride to Amsterdam is just about an hour.

Arriving at the Rijksmuseum
I was so excited to see the Vermeer paintings here! On the building is part of his painting "The Kitchen Maid". We couldn't take any photos inside, but seeing that painting and "The Little Street" is pretty well etched into my mind!!! We also saw many other masterpieces!
We then went to the nearby Van Gogh museum, also quite a thrill to see so many of his paintings!

No cameras were allowed here either, but to walk up the hidden stairs behind the bookcase, into the Frank family apartment of two years,is an experience I will never forgert.

Along the main shopping street is this "hidden church" - it is just this wide from the street, but when you go inside it is quite a surprise.

Waiting to get in to the Anne Frank house, we had tickets for 7:15 pm so had coffee by the canal first
We bought our tickets online ahead of time, and avoided this huge long line. The wait was as long as 2 1/2 hours. We really enjoyed our day in Amsterdam, returning by train to Delft about10:15 pm. It is a busy, but very beautiful city.
