Ken Graydon Memorial 9/4/11

Ken's wife Phee organized a splendid affair to celebrate his life. Over 300 people gathered at the Mission Theater in Fallbrook, CA on September 4th, 2011. The theater, filled to capacity, housed friends from all walks of Ken's life; from musicians and Death Valley '49ers, to colleagues and cowboys. Phee orchestrated a fine show with musicians and poets performing Ken's works as his family and friends talked about the different aspects of his life. Centennial Pageant ~ Death Valley '49ers Encampment

The Death Valley '49ers started as a non-profit organization in 1949 with members from Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. They worked in cooperation with the California Centennials Commission to present the spectacular DEATH VALLEY CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION pageant in Desolation Canyon on December 3, 1949.

Monuments ~ Death Valley '49ers, Inc.

The Death Valley ’49ers was organized in 1949 as part of the Centennial Celebration of the State of California. It is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that seeks to expand public awareness of Death Valley and its natural resources. The mission of the ’49ers is to foster appreciation of Death Valley, preserve its history, with special recognition to the wagon train of 1849, and to provide scholarships for students in the Death Valley region.

Preceding the Wagon Train the Model T's parade from Furnace Creek Inn to main entrance at Furnace Creek Ranch. The vehicles are then displayed at the Date Grove or golf course driving range.
