Taking off from San Carlos!
Crystal Springs Reservoir
Getting cloudier...
At 9000 feet, just on top of the clouds
Kind of weird to be skimming just above the tops.
You can really feel your speed as puffs of clouds go whizzing by.
I was really trying to capture the fact that I was between two layers of clouds, but this didn't really do it.
That's a little better.
Between layers!
I now know what's meant by a "hole in the clouds." I think I could've flown through that one, if I had reason to.
On course, on altitude, properly leaned. I was 51 minutes into the flight (clock on the left) and things were going well thanks to the autopilot :-)
Wet.
Water was actually dripping into the cabin at some points, after being in the clouds for a while. Not sure if it was through the door seal, or just through the air vent.
Getting closer..there's the ocean!
Just before getting on the visual approach, at which point I could take no more pictures.
My Halloween costume.
It's supposed to be Michael Jackson.
Asami and her friend
Leann, Jana and Bryan
Leann and Braxton, looking away
The gang, hanging
Shortly after takeoff, on the way back home
It's a much nicer day today.
At 6000 feet...though I wasn't in the clouds much, I was next to clouds a lot!
California is beautiful. End of story.
If I were just a few hundred feet over to the left, I'd have been inside those clouds for a good portion of the trip!
I'm going over those.
Still at 6000, for now, and only 11 minutes into the flight. This is just before the Gaviota VOR.
Messing with exposure settings on the camera makes it look like sunset.
Kind of a weird giant circular shadow on the ground there. It must be from the right-most cloud in the picture.
Random lake -- looks like a beautiful place to go camping.
Angels singing...
More angels singing..
I think that's Paso Robles.
Wow.
I wanted to use this (or the previous one) as a desktop background, but I hadn't realized my camera was in 640x480 mode. Bummer.
It's the Obama logo!
Coming over the hills into the Bay Area
Almost home...
