Irmita! The cutest 97-year-old chica ever.
Irma taking Julio's blood pressure. Are you trained in this? This is one of the things healthcare workers and trained volunteers can do!
The original house of Geriatric San Jorge for 25 years. Irma and the elders were kicked out when the lease ended and wasn't renewed in June 2009.
One of the bathrooms at the old house...Obviously they lack helpful home-care equipment that could make their lives and mobility much easier.
The only couple of San Jorge, Julio and Titiana, sitting on the porch. Unfortunately, Titiana passed away about a month ago. May she rest in peace...
Antonia...another lovely lady
Patino and Alejandro...such kind men...but they need new wheelchairs! Please help us get them some!
Oh my goodness, I adore this man
I pinched his face every time I saw him..I couldn't help it! :)
Teresita....I did basic exercises with her each day and walked with her around the yard with her walker. She definitely got stronger by the time I left.
Fatu, my darling Fatu...he went blind 7 years ago from diabetes, loves to listen to soccer on the radio, and talk to anyone willing to have a conversation. He also loves to listen to volunteers read him stories in spanish (it doesn't matter if your accent isn't that great!)
That was Irmita's table!
This is how these kind people spend all day. While Irma is working feverishly to clean, cook and take care of everyone, she doesn't have the time to keep them busy, take them for walks, play games...that's why we need volunteers!
Julio getting blood pressure taken again!
walking with Teresita!

We thought it would be nice to spruce up the house and give it a new paint job....too bad they kicked out Irma not too long after this!
Irmita and Tim...she loves the dogs

I was working with Carlos a little bit each day doing exercise's a visiting physical therapist suggested for him. He suffers from Alzheimer's with very tight muscles and decreased mobility. Ben, a current medical student, looks on
My darling Carlos! He is such a kind man....I was dirty from power-washing the house before painting
