“Mystery, Moonlight and Magnolias” benefits old City Hall
After more than a decade of efforts by many volunteers and the City of Denham Springs, the renovation of the old City Hall on Mattie Street is almost finished. The exterior and interior renovations, including the addition of an elevator, have been funded mainly by the city. However, the building will need furniture and other interior furnishings, and the grounds need landscaping. The Denham Springs Main Street Commission is hosting a gala August 15 at Forrest Grove Plantation in Denham Springs to raise funds for those purposes.
The gala,“Mystery, Moonlight and Magnolias” will include a “murder” mystery dinner, silent and live auctions and music by Sweet Kathleen. Special guest of honor, Lionel Kabel, Sr., the first Main Street Commission Chairman, will be recognized for his pioneering efforts and years of dedication to the preservation of old City Hall. Tickets are $50 each.
