Ernie Canyon as it cuts through the "inner" San Rafael Reef
The route to Hurst Bridge basically goes straight up the center of the photo

Panorama of Hurst Bridge
Near Hurst Bridge. There is a maze of canyons and washes in this area, and navigation becomes difficult here. After taking this picture, I dropped down into the bottom of the wash to the right and followed it most of the way to the arch.
Torrey's new pastime is burying her head in bushes while trying to catch lizards
Along the trail while hiking back from Hurst Bridge. There is a faint trail for the first part of the climb up out of Ernie Canyon, but it soon disappears and you have to pick your route cross-country.

An old contraption of some type, north of Ernie Canyon on the outer slopes of the San Rafael Reef. I believe this served both as a pump jack and as a hoist.
The sandy hill climb. It took me five runs at this hill, but I finally made it up!
Straight Wash
When hiking up Straight Wash to Eardley Canyon, you can hike this portion that cuts through the San Rafael Reef for 0.75 miles and curves around 180°, or you can take a shortcut to the left that takes you to the same place and only covers 0.25 miles
This is the shortcut near Straight Wash that will save you 0.5 miles of hiking
