Rome - Day 2
Today (June 4) we went to the Vatican and saw the Vatican Museum (including the Sistine Chapel) as well as St Peter's square. We didn't make it into the Basilica today (the blue dome) because our feet were just walked off.
One thing that surprised us was the complete lack of ropes, glass, etc in many of the museum rooms. We went into the year Christian art rooms where photography wasn't allowed, but you could just touch all these ancient stone carvings, some as old as the year 3 AD. Then, later, you obviously couldn't touch the fresco's, but photography was allowed in all rooms except the chapel.
