National Safe Boating Week 2010
"Wear it!" is the campaign theme for the National Safe Boating Week May 22-28. Life jackets save lives. And with boating season now underway, California waterways will be even more crowded, increasing the risk for safety. Treasure Island Sailing Center wants to make sure families have an enjoyable and safe experience on the water this season. TISC hosted a local event to help educate the public about simple practices for water safety. Local organizations were on hand to provide vessel safety checks, safe boating information, and more. The first 100 visitors received a free life jacket courtesy of the California Department of Boating and Waterways. We want to thank all of the organizations that participated in the event including the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Coast Guard, SFPD Marine Unit, SFFD, & the American Red Cross. We also want to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for all your help, we couldn't have done it without you! We hope you all had as much fun as we did!
