Salvation Army hostel in Colaba area of Mumbai for our first two nights. Late-in-the-season monsoon rains meant that we were woken up by the manager the first morning, to find our posessions floating in 3" of water. Brilliant.
Statue on Elephanta Island (the one on the left is the statue) in Mumbai Harbour
Big feet = big... sandals
Gate of India
Inside Leopold's. The pitcher is half empty
AMAZING kebab street food - just behind the Taj hotel.

Snappy billboard advertising
Victoria Terminus, Mumbai.
Sleeper train from Mumbai to Goa. Opted for non-A/C sleeper class (basically the cheap-seats). Had warnings that they would be awful, but they were fun, especially when you consider it was about £3.50 for the overnight journey
School in Arambol, Goa
Our guard dog, who made sure we got home OK. Good dog!
On way to Old Goa, which was colonised by the Portuguese, but was eventually abandoned after Cholera and malaria broke out
Old Goa's old abbey
Various attempts at 'freelensing'
Kids who demand having their photo taken... then want rupees
Another freelensing effort
Yet more freelensing - worked a bit better when closer up
Mass was being held in the cathedral... so lots of nuns
Wasn't sure if I could qualify as a journalist or accredited person. More likely a freedom fighter
Palolem beach, Goa
"Good looking cow on the beach... Mmm, depending on the beach"
On walk from Palolem to Patnim beach - much more chilled
Meeting up with Hannah in Patnim
Dinner from a leaf plate
India: You ask for two beers with glasses; you get two beers and a boiled egg.
Monkey at wildlife sanctuary at Topslip
A VERY cheeky monkey, who drank Rachel's chai, then stole our crisps
Mist set in, just before our walk to look for 'wildlife'
We saw a flash of a black monkey... and leeches - lots of leeches
Old watch tower. Abandoned because it was quite difficult to see all the leeches from up there
A deadly weapon... and a guide with a big machete
In Mettupalayam railway station, waiting for..
Steam if you wanna go faster
Station stop on 5-hour journey on the train

King's Cliff - Former Scottish-owned colonial-era residence in Ooty
Our pad for two nights (the end apartment), which was cold at night, but had a log fire to warm it
The owner's ride
Kings Cliff dining room
In the 'lobby'
For a country that produces so much tea, this was pretty much the first time we could get a proper brew. Masala omelette was good too
Tribal temple in a field. Despite a muddy field, we still had to take our shoes off, just to go in the field it was in. Squelchy.
... It's mummy (with big, sharp horns) turned up a few moments later.
Signs in Mysore Zoo
Amazing Hindu temple
Ganesh, with his trunk going to his left (which means he's 'party' Ganesh; unmarried and more forgiving if you don't worship him exactly right. Right-trunked Ganesh is married and won't stand for shit)
Amazing temple, number 2
'phants, supporting the temple with their strength
