Elderly man, no paint whatsoever. Picture is slightly out of focus, but can't get another one, because the painting process has already begun. Check out my blog: http://janismi.blogspot.com/
Sideview of basecoated figure from Copplestone package "Bad Things 1." This photo is not cropped, so you can see that he's standing on a tin can. (Vegetarian pea soup, to be exact.)While taking these photos, I noticed how much the light afftects to the outcome. I tried several lighting setups and found out the natural light is the best. Live and learn.
From this angle he looks quite nasty. I've spent several hours shopping for painting supplies. The basecoat sprays are quite hard to find, if you don't want to spend twelve euros on a single GW spray can. Spray cans can't be ordered from abroad because they are not allowed in aeroplanes, I've been told. But I found CRC Gray Primer Spray in a local Clas Ohlson store. It's really great! I also found my old white Maston Spray can and tried it on one figure, but the result was not so great. The surface became a bit un-smooth and it shows under the main paint layers. And it must contain some quite hard stuff, because the spray actually melted the figure a bit. You will see that later on.
Elderly woman, basecoated with gray. By the way, these pictures are quite large, so you can zoom them in to see the details. In this photo, for example, you can see how uneven the basecoat is. :-) Also her nose seems to be enormous. The lighting in this one is not very good.
Alright, some colors at last! The lady is standing on top of deodorant spray can. These are the main colors, except the boots that are still gray. Next phase is shading.
The mummy is glued to a standard 25mm square base. Next I'm going to complete it by moulding some clay to the base and then painting it to look more dungeonish. I don't know if mummies really have green faces but I kinda like it.
The same guy from the side. I did use many paint layers on it, because it kind of always lacked something. I shaded it, then highlighted, then shaded, then highlighted etc. Finally today I decided that it's enough, let it be.
