9/19/09 Test drive of new hybrid energy module in full EV mode following morning commute route, mix of city and highway driving (60-65 mph on 610 west Loop). MPG listing is the result of the 51 second engine/catalytic converter warm up at the start of the drive. After that the ICE (internal combustion engine) was off the entire time (although at highway speeds it is spinning with no gas and no spark so the motor/generators do not overspin)
9/19/09 completed test drive of my entire 21.4 mile round trip commute. The graph shows the point were car transitioned from True EV mode to Toyota's standard hybrid mode. The transition was on the fly while driving and totally seamless. The only indication that it had occurred was three beeps and an indication on the MFD that the engine was on.
