Whitehaven- the historic town today
The port town of Whitehaven in Cumbria, England, was developed from a small fishing village in the 17th century, on a grid plan. Economic decline in the 20th century preserved many old buildings from redevelopment, and instead there has been a policy of restoration, retaining the character of the old town but not excluding modern infrastructure.
