Note the House Martins darting through the air. (If you can't make the birds out, see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOXJ0b1ureU). The House Martins couldn't get to their nests underneath Oldgate Bridge.

Good job that sign was there!
Morpeth Leisure centre on right. Footbridge ahead is just underwater.
The water just got up to the middle of that footbridge beyond the house.
View from our upstairs window. In the distance is the footbridge as seen in the previous photo.

Morpeth first school was okay.
Most of the houses down here were flooded. The water came over the top of the wall, but was already seeping through the wall before then.
Locals told us that at its highest the water was up to the top of the ridge of the greenhouse.
The puddle top left is the location of the next photo...
Difficult to make out, but there were crayfish swimming in these puddles!
Note the water mark on St. George's Church
Morpeth library
Morpeth library - note the broken windows and how the wall has been knocked in.
Bottom of our garden. Only the bottom flower bed was flooded. That's 12 feet above normal river level though!
Note the water mark on the walls
Newminster and Chantry schools were okay. This is as far as the water got up the path to the schools. The floodwater made an attractive deposit of grass cuttings!
