2010 09 Ross Lake Kayak Trip
Doug, Rex, Ron, & I put in at Colonial Creek Campground, paddled across Diablo Lake, were shuttled to the south end of Ross Lake, then spent 7 days exploring Ross Lake. The lake is 22 miles long and up to a mile wide. We criss-crossed the lake, reached the N end of the lake in Canada, then made our way back to the southern end. Campgrounds were equipped with picnic tables, outhouses, bear vaults, and flat tent sites, so it was pretty civilized. On the 7th day we returned to our starting point. We had some precipitation (not much of an issue), wind & waves (some exciting crossings), and mosquitos (early into our tents). Our hike to Desolation Peak on our rest day was wiped out by overcast skies.
I didn't take my camera out when we were on the water, only when we were on shore. Somes of these pictures, all of the ones on the water, were taken by Rex.
