Batti Bandh is an environmental initiative that started in Mumbai in 2007. It is coming to Bengaluru for the first time now.
The BB Team are trying to make some noise about climate change with this idea. The gesture, of switching off lights for an hour, is merely token. But through this gesture, they want to bring community together at one point, to give them the climate message. For this, they are working on holding an event at Jaaga, for community to attend, so that they have more to do than just sitting at home in the dark.
They want to give community an opportunity to see that they don't need to lead wasteful lifestyles, but adopt an alternative one that respects the environment more. They hosted an event to promote their ideals to the public at Jaaga
