Cesar Clark came to Jacksonville, Oregon for the school year - 1984/85. He brother Juan Clark spent the school year 1982/83 with the Smiths. In July 2010 Juan's and Cesar's nephew and niece, Larry and Linda and Brian and Amber Smith spent the summer with the Clarks in Monterrey, Mexico. Arturo (16) and Nelly (19) spent two weeks with us in Jacksonville. An airline strike was on when Cesar was ready to fly back to Monterrey, so instead of an airplane Cesar took a bus to San Fransisco and then flew back to Mexico from their. Cesar was very popular and made lots of friends. Many of them showed up to see him off. Ruby and Elmer Smith are standing to the right. Mother is reaching for Elmer's hand. 1985

Larry is at the far left. 1985 Jose, center with dark pants, cried for hours after Cesar left. Cesar helped Jose make the transition between Spanish and English. Jose was now totally on his own with English.
