Notre Dame - this gothic masterpiece is located on the Ile de la Cité, a small island in the heart of the city.
The Notre-Dame has several large rose windows, this northern one is 21 metres high.
The stained glass is abundant

Pont Neuf - the oldest bridge in Paris- It is actually composed of two separate spans, one of five arches joining the left bank to the Île de la Cité, another of seven joining the island to the right bank

This Greek Temple is actually the Madeleine Church located at the Place de la Madeleine, close to the Palais Garnier and the Place de la Concorde.
Dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene this church is known as Madeleine which is french for Magdalene.
Place de la Concorde became the Place de la Révolution with the guillotine that executed in particular Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette and nearly 3000 others from 1793-95

The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, held in celebration of the French Revolution in 1789.

Pont Alexandre III is decorated with lampposts and sculptures of cherubs and nymphs. On each end are large gilded statues on 17 metres high granite pillars. Each of the ornaments on the bridge was created by a different artist.

The opulent Opéra de Paris Garnier was designed by Charles Garnier for Emperor Napoleon III.
The facade of the Opera Garnier is decorated with rose marble columns, friezes, sculpture groups and two large gilded statues.
Les Invalides- former accomodation for war veterans is now home to several museums, among them a large military museum.

Dôme des Invalides - church for exclusive use of the royal family. Napoleon's remains are now here as well as the tombs of several other military leaders.

Montmartre is known for its many artists who have been everpresent since the late 1800's
Moulin Rouge, the famous cabaret. It was founded in 1889
First opened to the public in 1793 the Louvre (palace of kings) claims to be the world's largest museum.

Winged Victory of Samothrace - the marble statue represents the figure of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. Probably scuptured to commemorate a specific sea battle
Venus de Milo in the Sully Wing of the museum. The statue dates to 100 B.C. and was discovered in 1820 on Aegean Island of Milos
