Each of the top three spots at HuskyCon receives an award corresponding to one of the dogs. Chris Mann won the Sitka award (note Sitka is the white dog in the picture) for his third place finish.

Juneau. She is the second place award. Kodiak, the oldest, passed away in April of 2006. The Kodiak award is still given out.
I took Laurent, Emmanuel and David around Manhattan for a day. I always stop at the statue of Balto - the fourth most famous husky in history - in Central Park.
Emmanuel in NYC
Me David and Emmanuel taking a bit of time to cool off. It was pretty muggy in the city that day. Fortunately things cooled down just in time for HuskyCon
Friday night socializing before the round. The four that are in the foreground from left to right are Alan Lange, Glen Habibi (a 4 out of 5 HuskyCons), Oliver (about to play his first game ever) and Carl Ellis (hasn't missed a HuskyCon yet).
More Socializing. From left, Chris Mann, Alex Amann, Jonathan Hill, Rick Desper, Susan (? - she was there with Andrew Cassese just to watch and socialize), Andrew Cassese, and I think Peter McNamara
Juneau
Sitka got a little stressed out from having so many people around. She started acting strange on Saturday evening, but in general remained her sweet lovable self.
Tournament Director Graham Woodring about to announce the round!
Ok I am not doing names anymore. Although that's Buz Eddy in the glasses with the collared shirt. He flew all the way out from Seattle after two prior weekends of Diplomacy.
Waiting for the round to start.
Round 1 GO!
Jonathan Hill, last year's champion.
Jeremiah Peterson. A very energetic, friendly and fun person in the hobby. It's kind of a bad picture of him though. He camped in our backyard.
Another Friday night board.
Friday night
Not sure why Laurent took this picture
Robert Rousse, in the blue polo, arrived too late to join the Friday round so he taught a bunch of us how to play Ticket to Ride, which is a fantastic game!
Our super board! Painted on the back of a ping table, this may be the biggest board in the world. On the left here is Adam Sigal who has been to 4 of 5 HuskyCons.
What would a diplomacy tournament be without a poker table (actually they are playing Bang!)
Sunrise!
Still sunrise
Me an Jon having a long heart-to-heart during the Saturday round. The weather during the Saturday round was unbelievably perfect.
Relaxing on the back porch. Judging by the shadow it was in the afternoon sometime, but Graham doesn't have a drink? Who can solve that mystery?
SITKA!!!
Saturday Round
Saturday game end position
Saturday round on the big board. France-May Martel, is teaching Garret Yablonski how to get himself stabbed.
My Saturday board! Look at how many white pieces (those are mine) there are on the board! As Russia I opened anti-germany (Laurent Joly) and attacked him the entire game. It worked out really well.
I remember this moment exactly. With 14 centers, and an excellent board position, I decided to let exhaustion get the better of me and vote for the draw. As soon as I rested up and was heading back to Turkey I began kicking myself.
Andrew Cassese.
Getting the grill ready!
The recently married Melissa Call, Buffalo and Maletsky were a big help with the Saturday cooking. Thanks guys!
The great champion of HuskyCon, Dave Maletsky. He is the only player as far as I know to have been to all Diplomacy events at our house. That includes five HuskyCons and HuskyCons predecessor, DonnerCon
Juneau! Dogs get tired too.
The marathon board. This was the longest game lasting 11 hours. As soon as this game finished most of these guys ate and ran down stairs to play double gunboat diplomacy
Ticket to Ride
Two gunboat games on the same board with 14 players. It was really confusing. Thank you David Norman for GMing it all.
Laurent and France-May got a little tipsy and began diploming in secret. They were quickly caught though.
Double Gunboat
Jeremiah Playing Nintendo Wii. This thing was incredibly popular during the weekend.

Diploming with a great backdrop, barefoot in nice thick green grass.

France-May slept in after staying up partying on Saturday. so she played other games instead.
There were a lot of cars in the driveway

Ah the beer donations bucket. At the end of the weekend, when the bucket was full of money, my father said he had enough money but that we were out of beer. He questioned whether people could read properly.
