Well, that's all the trees down, just a quick clear up.....
Taken just before the locals arrived en masse
The road is under there somewhere!
JCB making light work of picking up the branches
View from Bruno's house
Many hands make light work
Bruno using his digger to clear the road
Good job we didn't have to pay for all this work!
The only way we could move the larger logs once the locals had gone!
There's our house behind there somewhere..
These roots are of the 3 trees that fell together, about 3 metres high!
Looks like a jungle!
That's me trying to cut off all the branches, it took about 2 weeks to get them cut off and moved to the main pile.
This is the first pile of branches ready for Bruno to take away.
Bruno + digger + very large trailer = easy branch disposal!
This is how the professionals do it...
First skip delivery, no help from Bruno to fill it this time
1 full skip, many knackered workers! Only 2 more to go after this....
Rokxy 'helping' with the branch tidying up, she's not too worried who or what she hits though!
Clearer view, just the trunks and roots to deal with
The 3 trees that fell together, tallest one was over 25 metres
All the branches gone, I'd cut all the trunks I could with my chain saw, waiting for Bruno with his saw.
When Bruno was cutting these trunks into sections the whole lot righted itself!
How to remove a large stump complete with roots
Another trailer load, this time all stumps and roots
2nd trailer for the stumps etc.
That's better, can see across the fields all the way to the mountains now
Temporary fence to keep the dogs from doing a runner!
Jan built all this herself, it's still standing several weeks later! (This pile is just the thicker branches from the trees)
These have all got to be split into woodburner sized logs
These have got to be split as well
View from the patio, mountains looking great
Daisy looking normal, relaxed and refined
Rokxy looking normal, dirty and ready for a game!
Before the hurricane (March 2006, before we moved in, trees everywhere!)
After the hurricane and the clear up operations (8 April 2009)
Again, March 2006
8 April 2009
Yet again, March 2006, the trees beside the road we cut down in early 2007
