Restless gets her bottom polished

The bottom looked a little too rough to just repaint this year. So my good friend, Steve B. and I, took Restless over to Ocean Marine in Portsmouth to have her lifted, soda blasted, barrier coated and repainted. We found a few blisters. And then after the first barrier coat, a light color, a few more showed up. Here is how her repair progressed.

Restless' New Engine

Replaced the 30 year old original Yanmar 2GM15 with a new Beta BD722. While I was at it I replaced the primary fuel filter with a Racor 500FG and moved it up front where it could be serviced easily and quickly. The snap of the prop shaft also captures the new PSS dripless shaft seal. So far the Beta is proving itself to be exactly the miracle I was promised. It is quiet, smooth, smokeless, and incredibly easy to start.

Summer Solstice

Perhaps its tacky to keep photos of past loves but here is the Bristol 25 that preceded the Orion. A wonderful, seaworthy bay boat that was easy to singlehand and had all the amenities I needed on my own. But I wanted an inboard auxiliary and comfort for the whole family. She's gone from my life but not forgotten. I put in that maple ceiling, a job I enjoyed at the time and was proud of when finished.

Hilton Head to NYC

My second trip on "Just Us", an Etap 37 based in Stamford, CT. We sailed up the coast from Hilton Head, SC to NYC, up into the sound and thence to Stamford. The weather was challenging but the company made for a great time!
