Who likes grinding and cutting? This guy.
The original concept sketch for the statue. Based off of the real skull of a goat.
The initial armature. Plywood scraps, 1x2 studs, wire, and gaffing tape.
Close up of the hand armature, and my lucky Fat Max hammer.
Initial Foam Build.
Look at the drunken bastard.
Continual carving and gluing. Notice the blocking on the left to keep the armature still.
It's a blurry washed out shot of the torso.
After the intial build of the body, I used gaffing tape to pinch down spots. Notice the awesome power of an electric knife.
Here you can see the difference between the built left arm, and the unbuilt right arm.
Final neck and shoulder build up.
Obverse shot of the figure. No build up is done in the back, due to the figure mounting.
First draft of the hand build. This was eventually scrapped and redone.
Most of the body is built and sculpted.
Obverse shot with my action item list attached to it.
Majority of the build is done. Notice the focus on practical anatomy.
This shot shows the redone hands, as well as the fur layout.
After the goat's skull is carefully put aside, the skin is airbrushed. The skin is a single layer of muslin spray-adhesived to the sculpt, and then sprayed in latex.
In daylight it looks bad, but under theatrical lighting, it looks awesome. The anarchy symbol is an easter egg.
The statue in it's natural habitat.
I was also responsible for the lighting effects and the set dressing. One of my favourite parts is the barbed wire halo.
