On our way to New Paltz, we stop at a scenic overlook and take in the grandeur that the Hudson has to offer.
Sailing around NYC, must be nice!
bright red barge on the Hudson
a barge (or two!) plows through the water
My happy sweetie with the Hudson and NYC in the background.
I am happy to have my photo taken on such a nice day, in such a nice place, by such a nice man. :)
Never too many photos of yours truly. :)
ok last one of me for the moment!
Justin and some super vivid colors
Sun dappled Justin
We have arrived!
This is just beautiful. Larger than it appears in the image too - see the areas covered in white? That is from chalk that climbers used to traverse this rocky facing.
This young man is ready to take on the wall of rock on his way to the top. Notice his harness and rope. I was not ready for this severity of climbing.
I saw this somewhat private area and it called to me.
there I am on the left, telling Justin to come up
That is pretty much as far as I climbed. :(
I am really sad in this picture because I wasn't prepared and because I am not climbing. If there weren't people around I would have felt much more self-assured.
We decide to leave the climbing area of the Gunks and explore some hiking areas.
way out
Lost Maples has some cool rock formations, but nothing quite like this bad boy.
well traversed
I just adore those little houses, trees, and clearings. It seems so quintessentially New England, even though apparently this is not technically that area!
Looking out over the vast beauty and wilderness of upstate New York. I wish JetBlue was based here!
Justin hiking up to the top.
niiice
Look here for the flow of the rock round the tree and the moon in the sky
Vulture!
Woohoo Lens Flare au natural with my sweetie!
We thought the fact that there were scrubby pine trees growing out of the rocky area was just too cool.
A fellow hiker offered to take a photo for us. Yay!!!
love this!!!
i am enjoying the view :)
another shot of me enjoying the wild
justin's on his way to join me
Click the 'magnifying glass' to Zoom In - then click and drag so you can see how beautiful it really is (and how great a job Justin did stitching about 10 images together). ;)
