Approximately 60 Erie-area residents gathered outside Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper's office on August 16, 2010 to welcome the Susan B. Anthony List "Votes Have Consequences Express" and protest Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper's egregious vote for the pro-abortion health care bill.
Pro-life people come from all walks of life, age groups, political parties, religions, nationalities, and races. What they have in common is the common sense realization that it is absolutely unacceptable for a sovereign state to refuse to protect those within its jurisdiction from murder -- the unjust taking of an innocent human life. Our government allows the murder of over 3,000 innocent unborn children every day, making abortion -- unquestionably -- the most urgent political and social issue of our times.
Now, the new health care law authorizes our government subsidize the unjust killing of innocent human beings by (1) direct payments from the federal government and (2) massive subsidies to insurance plans that treat abortion as routing health care.
Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, speaking on behalf of the Susan B. Anthony List.
A small but unruly crowd of hecklers organized by the pro-Obama, pro-Dahlkemper group Catholics United distracts the speaker and her listeners. The hecklers' shouted "liar!" and "lies!" throughout our rally.
The Catholics United group, waiting for our rally to begin. ā[Catholics United has] confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn.ā -- Most Revernd Charles J. Chaput, Archbishop of Denver "In no way does Catholics United represent the public policy positions of the Catholic Church." -- Michigan Catholic Conference: http://www.catholicvoteaction.org/americanpapist/index.php?p=6442
James Salt, Director of Organizing for Catholics United and close associate of Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius (an avid pro-abortion activist and cheerleader of late-term abortionist George Tiller), led the protesters. Salt and Catholics United even launched a special website supporting Sebelius' nomination as HHS Secretary: www.catholicsforsebelius.com
