Travelling to Brazil we flew over the Cannary Islands. Using binoculars we could even see the hotels on the beach!
Our first view of the hotel was early in the morning as the sun was rising.
The beach was fantastic - although the waves were pretty big.
Picture perfect!
The hotel had two pools - both very relaxing.
We were 10 minutes taxi ride along the coast from the city - but it meant the beach was lovely and quiet.
Ang was quick to try out the tropical waters.
There was a strong see breeze, but it was very warm.
On our second day - the heavens opened let rip with rain and wind...
... so we went shopping!
As soon as the sun came out we were back on the beach with our cocktails.
In the evening we chilled on the beach and looked at the stars.
Our first excursion took us to a local market.
we saw some interesting people, and lots of "fresh" meat and vegetables/fruit.
We stopped off at a very chic village - full of of the hip and trendy of Brazil (and beyond). Ang hid in the shade while Al went body sufing (well, swimming anyway).
Yummy prawns that we ate.
We kept ourselves on UK time so woke up each morning to see the sun rise.
Al went swimming - all though it was early morning it was still warm enough to go swimming.
Another excursion took us to some mangroves.
We jumped on a boat...
... and jumped off again to see the mangroves up close.
This local man showed us how to catch crabs the traditional way. He stuck his arm all the way in the ground, waited, moved around a bit, and 2 minutes later pulled out a live crab!
A lot of hard work - but he could catch quite a few of these in an hour.
Ang had her face painted with the local mud!
We were dropped off at a sand spit and went for a walk in the mid -day sun!
Ang chills out in a hammock after a large lunch of meaty fish.
On the way back to our hotel we stopped off at a working farm where one of the Brazilian traditionally rich still lived. This is her bedroom.
The best part of the farm was the amazing garden.
One of the amazing flowers.
More amazing flowers.
We were treated to some great afternoon snacks.
Another excursion saw as board a beach buggy - first stop, a road side market.
Ang looking fruity.
What it looks like inside the beach buggy.
We stopped off for lunch at an old railway station.
Some scenery from the villages we passed through.
Dolphin Cove
Dolphins!
A lizard decided to show up while we were watching the dolphins.
Beach buggies on the sand dunes.
One question the driver asks before you get in is "With or without emotion". We chose with emotion and went the scary route across the dunes!
This is the largest cashew nut tree in the world... its a freak of nature.

A baby monkey
While in Brazil we really enjoyed the food - this evening we ordered steak, and had a plateful of not just one, but 6!
