Buninyong Gold King Festival March 09
BUNINYONG lies at the foot of Mt Buninyong, 11KM south of Ballarat in Victoria, and the Gold King Festival is held in-and-around the village of Buninyong providing a community-based festival for residents and visitors celebrating the spirit of the Gold King , Henry Joseph Desoza. It was was established over 30 years ago with the aim of promoting community groups and to provide a free festival for the Ballarat Region. There are activities, entertainment, art displays, folk music, craft stalls, historic walking tours, market stalls, Bunny Breakfast, fun runs, open gardens, culminating with the piece de resistance - the Grand Parade. Starting with assembly at Inglis Street, the Parade winds its way down Learmonth Street before turning into Warernheip Street (Ballarat Buninyong road) to the local park. It showcases the local community groups including the CFA, SES, Police Band and others.
