Texas Twisters

The Texas Twisters not only knit and crochet, they make and spin their own yarn. They meet at the Community Center every Wednesday from 10am - 3pm. If you already know how to spin, you are welcome to join them. If you want to learn, private lessons can be arranged.

Jo's Girls Quilters

Jo’s Girls, the quilters at the Community Center, The Colony TX, made their own versions of “Love in Bloom” from the Jan/Feb 2010 McCalls Quilting. Variations included table runners, toppers, placemats, and wall hangings. Instructor is Dixie Irwin. Crafters Donate Soldiers Stockings

The Colony Crafters made over 50 Christmas Stockings to send to soldiers overseas. They also provided goodies to fill the stockings.

Vegas Night

What better way to celebrate in the summer than with frozen drinks (virgin) and a casino party. To conclude the evening, chips were exchanged for doorprize tickets. Twenty-two gifts were given away in the drawing.

Liberty by the Lake

Thousands of people braved the heat and enjoyed Liberty by the Lake. The Colony Seniors win again in the parade float contest. This year, they won First Place - Most Creative Float as the Retired Super Heros. Bobby Crook took Second Place for her Non-Traditional Salsa. Several of the seniors competed in the 5K Run

Rocking Chair Players at Covered Dish & AARP

The Rocking Chair Players presented a short skit called "A Close Call" at the April Covered Dish dinner. The play was so well received they were asked to do an encore presentation at the May AARP meeting. The Rocking Chair Players are looking for others interested in participating in short performances at the Community Center.

Caribbean Cruise 09

Twenty-two seniors sailed into the sunset and spent 7 days cruising the Caribbean. The Colony Community Center plans cruises and tours on a regular basis. Call 972-624-2246 for information about upcoming trips.

The Community Center sailed The Inside Passage Alaska the week of September 13-20. There were 26 from The Colony area on the cruise.

Caribbean Cruise

The Community Center sponsored a Caribbean Cruise. We left Sept. 30 for a 7 night cruise out of Galveston. Ports of call included Montego Bay, Jamica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; and Cozumel, Mexico.
