our living room with tatami floor, we brought this rug, have had it since we lived in Clayton, and it matches the pillows on the couches perfectly
another view of the living room, huge closet here holds Tim's professional materials/books, my cello case, my yarn stash, extra floor cushions for seating
dining room, dishes in the glass front cabinets there, easily accessible to children for table-setting, the other end of this room (to the right in this pic) is in the front of the house and has our book cases on one wall and computer desk opposite, then my sewing machine on a table in the window facing the front yard
our kitchen, wire rack came with house, I added baskets for children's plastic cups/dishware and dishtowels/potholders etc.
another view of the kitchen, look through to the dining room
my idea, an over the door shoe organizer for toothpaste/brushes, other toiletries, also hanging hamper here b/c there is no floor space to spare for a free-standing hamper
more laundry room, sink/mirror for beautifying oneself, with shower/bath to the right
laundry room, ingenious shelving system which uses tension rods between the floor and ceiling to secure the two poles, and has two adjustable shelves
this is the hall from the middle of the house looking back to the entryway, Tim hung these framed sailing prints just before he left, then 24 hours later was the earthquake, yet they are still perfectly level; bathroom on the left and stairwell on the right
tiny bathroom, isn't that sink just adorable! the bathroom upstairs is just as tiny, and has a smaller sink, if you can imagine such a thing
I honestly don't know why there is a fluffy bunny in the foyer
I had to include this picture of the kids' books; the housekeepers came today for their first visit, a deep cleaning, and they organized the books on this shelf - it's so beautiful - I just had to get a picture
every where I look there is another surprise waiting for me, this closet, while not exactly organized, you can see that everything is, at least, at right angles, I also found they had wiped out the inside of every single trash can in the house
the kids were amazed, wowed, thrilled, surprised... to see their beds made, blankets folded, pillows set up right and pets arranged for them
I laid out clean sets of sheets and the ladies changed them for us, they were impressed with my makeshift linen closet and the changing area for the kids, oh and - I almost forgot - this dear sweet lady asked for a screwdriver so she could dismantle the box fan in the hallway upstairs so she could scrub it!
I forgot to get pics of the master bedroom, I have purchased a new white rug for that room and arranged the futon couch that was our bed for so long against the sliding glass door
