Driving around in Islamic Cairo
This was taken at an old mosque in Islamic Cairo. The engravings are Hieroglyphics. Some parts of the temple were built with ancient stones.
The "Cities of the Dead" in Cairo. There are miles and miles of these buildings. These are old tombs that are now inhabited by the poorest of the poor.
These buildings were built when the ring road highway (which I was one for the pic) was being built. The steel rods are there because builders ran out of money. Pretty crazy.
The Citadel
I forgot to take a picture of me with a camel, but this is the camel that I am sitting on.
I hate taking these kind of corny pics but my guide made me.
View of Cairo from the pyramids. Yeah, I didn't realize they were just outside the city either.
Looking into the desert. Cairo is behind me.
Ancient port-o-potties that the Pharaohs used to use. . . (just kidding)
The Sphinx
Tombs
Egyptian National Museum
A city square (called Midans)
View across the Nile to an island in the city (Zamalek). Cairo Tower.
Yes, this is really me taking these pics.
Cairo Gateway
Coptic Christian churces.
The Barrel Bar at the Windsor Hotel in Cairo. Apparently, 'Around the World in 80 Days' had a scene in here.
Nile River Boat
On-board the Nile Maxim river boat. This is a Tanoora dancer. He just keeps spinning and spinning.
You spin me right round, baby, right round. like a record, baby, Right round round round
Oooh. The belly dancer is about to rise. Getting excited!!!
There she is!
I'm pretty sure she's a woman.
*You spin me right round, baby right round like a record, baby Right round round round You spin me right round, baby Right round like a record, baby Right round round round
A man carrying a tray of fresh bread at dawn in the Cities of the Dead.
Yes, apparently, there used to be rivers and lakes in Saudi Arabia (taken from the plane)
