"Cassette joint pulley" has cable attached. "Cassette joint bracket" is of a darker metal.
A small locking pin should have been supplied with the changing mechanism. This pin prevents rotation of the two parts relative to one another.
There is also a lock ring which secures the changing mechanism to the hub.
