20101207 Deer Rescue on Ice (Joan)

Firefighters rescued a deer who'd fallen on the ice of Hauser Lake and could not get back on her feet. Captain Mobbs and Assistant Chief Neils, assisted by many volunteer fire fighters on the shore, scooped her back to shore using their rope. She was so exhausted from struggling that she had a hard time standing; however, she had no apparent wounds and prognosis for a full recover is good!

Positive pressure ventilation / attack training (PPV and PPA). This firefighting tactic uses powerful fans to blow smoke and other toxic gases out of a structure, allowing fire fighters to follow the fresh air in. Photos courtesy of J. Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training in which firefighters practice rescuing down firefighters. This evening, one team extricated from the basement through a hole in the bedroom floor.
