At Dulles International before we left (12.24.08)
Arriving in Paris, Charles De Gaulle International Airport (12.25.08)
My first view from our hotel room window.
The full view from our hotel room window. The Arc de Triomphe is off the the left!
The Arc de Triomphe
Looking down the Champs-Elysees.
Looking up the Champs-Elysees.
Attemping to eat a blow up churro (they call them chichis).
Apparently Santa's village is just behind the Eiffel Tower right on the Siene River.
We stumbled upon a menorah lighting on our furst night, on our way to dinner. It was amazing and made us very happy since we were worried we would not get to light candles.
Dinner at the Belvedere. Duck on the bottom. Sirloin on the top and french fries on the right. Yummy! (and Kosher!)
The Sacre-Couer (spelling?)
Grabbing a bite to eat at a small pastry shop in the Monamatre.
The first of many Obama-related items we saw in Paris. We didn't really get this one. Seems like a downer to me.
The Moulin de la Galette. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec painted a very famous piece set inside here. (You may remember him as the person John Leguizamo played in Moulin Rouge).
The Moulin Rouge. Means "Red Windmill".
Robbie peering off into the distance. That is the Eiffel Tower lit up in the background. (From our hotel room)
Sarina and Robbie's first (of many) macarons. This one was Pistachio, it was amazing.
At le Refuge des fondues. a Fondue place with kitschy Parisian-ness about it. The women all had to climb over the tables to get to their seats. They served wine in baby bottles (photos not shown)... It was great.
Robbie being silly at le Refuge des fondues.
At le Refuge des fondues.
At the Musee de Louvre. This is under the famous glass pyramid.
At the Louvre.
Once again... at the Louvre.
The Mona Lisa (held at the Musee de Louvre).
The Thinker (in the gardens at the Musee Rodin. Rodin is burried under his famous sculpture.
A close up of The Thinker.
Rodin's "Gates of Hell".
Our first Crepes. The one on top is Chocolate the bottom one is Chestnut.
The rotunda of the Galaries Lafayette, a high-end department store.
The Chirstmas Tree in the center at the same place.
Mi-va-Mi, a Falafel place in the Jewish Quarter. It was amazing. All I wanted was falfel, humus, and spicy sauce, so the guy gave me like 15 falafel balls.
Mi-va-Mi's very famous competition.
Mint, cherry-pistachio, and passion fruit macarons. Macarons are to France what cupcakes are to the US.
Baan Rai, a Kosher Thai place.
Lemon grass vegetable soup.
Veggie friedrice, this was supposed to have chicken in it, but the order got messed up.
Soy sause beef with mashed potato and ginger.
Chocolate spring rolls with coconut milk for dessert.
Notre Dame Cathedral
In the dome of La Sainte Chapelle Cathedral. Each window is a bible story. This one is the Passion of Christ. Sainte Chapelle used to hold what are believed to be actual artifacts from the Passion.
This one is the Apocolypse.
The chapel in Sainte Chapelle.
Outside Sainte Chapelle.
Looking down the Siene River.
Barak Obama outside the Pompidou Modern Art Museum.
A view from the tubes of the Pompidou. You take escalators in tubes to go from floor to floor. Its a wierd place.
They love this man almost as much as we do.
Grabbin a bagguette after a long day of site seeing.
Our one and only eclaire of the trip. This one was dark chocolatre with coffee powder on top.
Each hour on the hour for 5 minutes the Tower lights up. This was at 8pm before we got in line to go up. We were on the Eiffel Tower for the 9pm show.
My artsy picture of the Eiffel Tower all lit up.
Some fun at the Musee D'Orsay. Easily the best Museum of the trip. If you go, see the Van Gohs, Monets, Manets, Degas, and Renoirs on the 5th floor. Simply incredible.
A little pick me up at a kosher bakery we found by chance. A Spinach quiche and Spinach Lasagne. (Spinach = Epinard)
Just a cute photo of us with our new hats.
A great Kosher Chinese place we stumbled upon on our last night in Paris.
Chicken egg rolls.
Sizzling beef.
Almond Chicken.
Robbie and Sarina on their last day in Paris. Our first vacation in a long time with no tan to show for it.
Our last breakfast in Paris. Cafe au lait and Chocolat chaud (hot chocolate) were our drinks of choice. These were our last :(
Our hotel.
