The ultralight I started flying in, Lightwing 25-0081 in it's third colour scheme. Buy this point I was instructing in it. Taken around 2000.
My first ultralight actually flying! A poorly cloned Winton Cricket built in Canberra. Finally got the Yamaha RD 350 bike engine to run properly, but only did strip runs. This was June, 1988.
Another attempt to fly the Winton Cricket clone was at Mittagong in July, 1988. A tail wheel link broke and I ground looped, damaging the prop.

The first ultralight I flew was an original Scout with no ailerons. Back about 1980, before the days of the AUF, rego's and licenses. This one I flew at Holbrook, 23-04-89.
One of very few flights in a trike (flown dual) and a British registered one at that!, Holbrook in 1989. I guess it's odd that with all my Hang-Gliding time, that I never got into trikes? I even built one.

Rotax 503 powered Sapphire flown near Woodstock, Queensland in 1990. Very quick, but PINK ! Later repainted and sold. The aircraft in the background was called 'Snoopy', that's all I know...
I called this the 'Super Cricket II' after totally rebuilding the clone machine. Initially unsuccessfully attempted to fly with the Yamaha, so fitted a Rotax 503. Totally changed it's nature, would now climb at 1000fpm! Shot here after first test flights in 1990.
The 'Super Cricket II' was fairly unstable, so some mods to the fuselage and fin turned it into a good cruiser. See the Cricket history elsewhere on this site. Taken around 1991.
A Cohen Skydart owned by three guys in the SUFC, I had my first flight in 1990.
Howie Hughes' prototype 'Pocket Rocket' Nicknamed by us as the 'Ugly Wing'. Despite that, it flew really well and was a lot of fun. Flown while at Holbrook 1991.

A Steve Cohen design intended for quick manufacture. Designated the UD-2 (or Ugly Duckling #2) was of alloy tube construction with Rotax two stroke up front. Prototype was a bit agricultural, but flew quite well. No idea why the project failed?

Got to fly a Sting once at Jaspers Brush, but forgot to log it! Great visibility, fast (with adjustable prop) and handled rough grass strip well.

Early model 'Supa Pup' re-engined by SUFC club member Ian Norgrove from a 447 to a 503. After inspecting, I test flew in 2005, but had fairly poor performance, needed work on the prop maybe.
