At Derreen;s B&B we met Ingrid and Andy, our intrepid traveling mates
Beth ready to start out
Ingrid ready
Andy and Jim are ready
First night
Into the taxi for our first trail
Thru Blennerville, past the windmill,
down the dingle peninsula (An Daingean in celtic Gallic) toward the Dingle Way
Great view of the bay along the Slieve Mish mountain overlooking Traylee Bay. North Kerry in the background across the bay
Yes in a mere 10 or 12 mles we'll be there
I spotted the sheep, that is I spotted the Blue spotted sheep.
I didn't touch the horse either.
Great weather and we could see the US from there almost!!
It had rained the eve before so there was some water along the way. Here we stopped for lunch for 45 seconds.
Good ground for growing rocks!
Back along the Bay
Bay's end, into the ocean
The trail is really on the left in the mud and bog. We are walking atop an old stone fence
Nap!!
"Are we there yet?"
One of the old stone huts in the ruined village of Killelton near the village of Camp.
Killelton
Thru' the Bog in the wild fuschia to the old Church
The old church sign (They printed neat in those days)
The Oratory (Church) at Killelton
Need a walking stick?
Ingrid snapping the best shot (I hope she shares)
Forest!!!
Day 2, Foreground building and fences in the background. So much of the ruins are unmarked and are there by the grace of the farmer who now owns them. This is called the Farmers track across the neck of the peninsula
Did I say it rained the night before last? It was raining as thei photo was taken
Up the hill we go and down the hill the water goes. Yes it is raining
Still raining and the water is coming from somewhere above
We got up to here!!!!!!!!!!
John made us do it
And up to here!!!!! on the edge of edge!!!!
Still rain and more falls
More falls. A trail one foot wide with bog on one side and drop off on the other. We were to cross the river here but could not because our guide John, did not want to lose a group so late in the season
So we came back down
Big Bog feet to keep from sinking in the bog.
In the village of Dingle
The reason for Ireland
This set of photos are Ingrid's work
John took these next photos
Andy has a set of Photos for the book as well.
