Day 4 -- The Olympics in Beijing

This was the busiest day of the four. I saw Beach Volleyball (Men's Bronze medal match -- Georgia ag. Brazil, Men's Gold -- US ag. Brazil), Synchronized Swimming (interesting, but a bit boring), and Track and Field (Decathlon, Women's Long Jump, Men's Pole Vault, 4x100 relays, etc.)

Day 3 -- The Olympics in Beijing

Diving 10m semifinals. Light day. Rained and security was a mess. After the diving event, I walked around the venues a bit and then headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest

Day 2 -- The Olympics in Beijing

Day 2 was dominated by mastering the Beijing subway system, seeing the Olympics Green for the first time, and watching women's 10m platform diving. Summer Zhang's husband set me up in a 4 star hotel by the government district

Day 1 -- The Olympics in Beijing

Flew from Shanghai, saw the new terminal 3 (wow!), met Per, and watched Indoor Volleyball that night. I watched the Chinese Women beat Russia in 3 sets. The second set was contentious, but the other sets were controlled by China. I watched the women battle against Italy and win in 5 sets. The final two sets were dominated by a serving performance for the ages by the shortest member of the team, Lindsay Berg

2008-02-Trip to Suzhou with Rishi and Per

Took a trip with Rishi and Per to Suzhou, China. We left Shanghai via the Metro and then Train. This was our first trip to the Shanghai Railway Station. We visited a temple, museum, and garden in Suzhou. It was the offseason (few things in bloom), but it was beautiful, nonetheless. Next time, we plan to explore more of the gardens and see more of the waterways.
