Not an official visit, but everyone has to climb this mountain. 806 m doesn't sound high, but you start near sea level and the scamble up the face is about a 60 percent grade!
The final push to the summit is eroding badly, so my goal is to have Parks Canada send us with a team to the top via helicopter next year to repair it. I decided a small taste of the work that could be done would help our case. Other hikers who stopped to ask what the heck we were doing were intrigued with IMBA. This was an even better conversation starter than our car.
10 mile pond from 806 meters above. The climb is definitely worth it.
This little fellow was literally blocking the trail. We figured the park staff wouldn't mind us leaving the defined route for a small detour around him.
The landscape on the mountain is harsh but beautiful. These trees surround the campsites found on the back side of Gros Morne.
