The begining - an empty basement after demolition
crawl space under kitchen
working on footers for front porch and garage extension
front porch footer - front porch is 8 x 32 - can't wait to sit here in summer
not sure what they dug back there
not much of a driveway - the demolition wrecked it - you can see one guy in the footer ditch, just to the right of the white pipe
looking north at the 1st floor deck - from the garage
The crane
just to show how big the thing is
truck with 1st floor and crane It took them 3 hours to get up the driveway due to uphill slope with ice/snow
a cold day but here we go
I took this while standing on the crane - 2 windows are in the office/dining room
front view - far right window is master bedroom, 2 closest are dining room/office
rear view - the closest section with the peaked roof is the kitchen. It will have a cathedral ceiling and a nice view of the back yard and gardens
this is from the south side - the little window is in the kitchen. The garage isn't built yet in this view - it would cover the open framing on the right
front view from the street
dining room/office
Gayle - in the utility room - looking from the great room
Kitchen - from the great room
Great Room - looking towards the rear - kitchen is back to the left
Great Room looking towards the master bedroom suite
Great Room looking to the front. Front door entry is to the right.
underground utilities - what a nice ditch :-)
from the street - the Prius is in what will be the driveway
This is the second load of partitions - so much for the lawn.
Roof Trusses - these held up the building permit for a week or more. The inspector wanted to see architect stamped drawings of the trusses.
The north peak of the house on its way home.
Underground utilities - carefully dug so as to not harm Gayle's prized cement Lion - he is to the right of the trench.
This is the north end of the house - the window is in the master bedroom
Front view - master bedroom on right and the start of the right front dormer. The stairs you see are actually for the basement - I think they just put them there to go up to the 2nd floor.
Just another view of the same front right dormer.
Front view - nice dormers (designed by Gayle)
The garage - I think the" window" where you see the ladder is actually an upstairs door into storage space over the garage
Rear view - garage on the right, nice double windows for the upstairs bedrooms
From the North side
A start on the front porch roof
A roof ! - This is the master bedroom suite
Another shot of the front porch
We heard from multiple sources that these guys are good framers
Front dormers and the porch
A better view of the porch.
A good view from the back - just need the roof over the bay window
Garage
a nice shot of the front dormers and porch
more front porch and dormers
this shows the back dormer - there are 2 bedrooms and a full bath up there
shows the celestory window in the kitchen
Garage and front proch.
Storage room above the garage - entry from 2nd floor bedroom.
2nd floor - South bedroom, facing the front. Window is in the left front dormer.
2nd floor - South bedroom, facing the rear. bathroom is in the back right here.
2nd floor - North bedroom, facing front. Window is in the right front dormer.
2nd floor - North bedroom, facing the rear.
Shingles on the west side - including Bay window and kitchen
gas line - they put it under the road without digging up the road !!
ready for the gas meter
East side roof - almost done
Master Bedroom
Greatroom - looking towards the front
Greatroom - looking towards the back - fireplace will be on the right
Kitchen - small window above stove - big window over the sink
Kitchen - facing north, door to deck
Windows !!! - back - faces west - all windows are GBG - (grills between glass)
This is the front - with windows
The front roof isn't done - that is why the window isn't in yet (roof access)
Ready for garage doors - maybe
stairs
The first siding - also shows our window treatment
Front Porch taking shape
Siding and Window treatments
speaker wire in the kitchen
Bill does real work
wire for two speakers above the kitchen cabinets
My friend Jon - cabling guy
Deep in thought
Shortest guy gets to work in the crawl space
Almost done if front
Window treatment we came up with - based on a house we saw
The small window is the kitchen
Back door of the garage
This is the north side - window is Master BR
The whole front - done
Kitchen - the shrub has to go
Note the window and door treatment - Bill spotted something like this on a house, we modified it a little
