She doesn't look sick enough to be in palliative care!

She loved to smile

Reading a book...a frequent activity
May 2007 - Christy's last visit to her sons' home in Surrey. This was after she started feeling much better after taking steroids, and she did the 40 minute drive by herself!
Laughter does good like medicine!
Christy and her two daughters-in-love
Surrounded by her precious grandchildren, she was really enjoying herself! (Nathan wasn't at the moment)
Having fun with her grandson Nathan!
Looking at her birthday cards
Bitterweet time with Gramma
Gramma and Bethany
Kindred spirits, these two
One of their favorite activities esp during Christy's illness was reading story after story together! How she summoned the strength and energy was impressive.
Her birthday cake
Priceless memories
True love tried and tested
Christy was glad here because Wayne cooked up an amazing dinner for the whole family: barbequed chicken, rice pilaf, vegetables, the works! He proved that he could take care of himself after she was gone.
Knowing this would likely be her last birthday left an underlying sadness to this happy occasion

Christy's 51st birthday
Snuggling up in gramma's hospital bed in the living room
With Nathan
She's probably remembering little baby Jeff
Visiting with daughter-in-love Heidi and grandon Nathan
Yes, they're still reading
This is the flute she played in high school that her grandfather had played in the London Symphony Orchestra! It's an antique wooden instrument.
Christy's face was starting to really swell here from the steroid drugs she was taking
This was the "last supper" we enjoyed together the night before Christy's fall. After this, she no longer ate normal meals. Ever the loving Gramma, she helps Bethany with her sleeve.
We had no idea that this was to be her last day at home...
Sweet suffering
In hospital
Peaceful rest
The pillow that Heidi made for Christy
the girls aren't sure what to think or say, they know they don't like seeing gramma like this
As long as she has strength, she will touch others in love
Christy's granddaughters waiting to see Gramma in hospice

Hands - gramma's and granddaughter's
Visiting in hospice October 3rd
Notice her ever-open Bible on the bedstand - her mainstay and source of comfort and hope. As the things of earth grow dimmer, the light of God's Word grows brighter
Christy's telling to Nathan to look at the camera, but he is too interested in her! (is that unusual?)
The ever-adoring Gramma, even though her body is so weak
Sweet Christy
