2012-07-18 Dark Knight Rises Screening in Colusa
Matthew and I attended a preview screening of the Dark Knight Rises (24 hours ahead of release). The photos show the projectionist preparing the final reel, from the 8 separate reels that arrived from the studio, through selecting previews and cutting/pasting them all together. Almost 2 hours of manual work, in a historic cinema (old phone, old projector, calendar from 1961, Coka Cola commercials from the 70s), while listening to 40s music on an old turntable. Seeing 70-80 years old technology at work makes you appreciate the way they built things then. Oh, and the movie sucked.
