Vol. 3 - Harry St Clare Wheeler's WW1 photo album from US Naval Air service in France
This is the 3rd and last group of photos taken from the WW-1 photo album that belonged to Keith's father. St. Clare Wheeler served in France in the US Navel Air Service between about Nov 1917 and Apr 1919. Most of this overseas service was in western France, with the majority of time stationed at the Brest Naval Air Station. He was discharged 3 May 1919 in Hoboken, NJ, from the USS Graf Waldersee (former German ship of stateside return) as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class with "Victory Medal" issued. At time of discharge he was 19 years, 10 months of age and weighed 125 lbs. While active with the Corning, California, American Legion, he did not share many WWI details with his children. He died at the early age of 39, so many memories related to these photos have been lost. If you recognize any of the people, places or events, please relate this to Keith at: okwheeler@gmail.com For more on StClare, see:http://www.wheelerfolk.org/familyphotos/hsw_ww1/his_navy_years.htm
