Summer Art Camp 2010 at the Stanton Community Center
This year's Summer Enrichment Camp at the Stanton Community Center (SCC) was highlighted by the Art Camp conducted by the Maryland Federation of Art (MFA). MFA is renowned for it's collection of art works that have drawn art lovers and collectors alike from all over the world.
For five weeks, the MFA availed themselves to the youth of the SCC's summer enrichment program. The MFA staff of professional artists, along with area college students, volunteered their time and talents working with the summer campers to further develop their imaginations and creativity in the creative arts. Students, ages 6 to 12, worked in many different areas using many different art mediums and materials. Each week, the children took on a new and different project which enabled them to experience a wide range of applications and techniques.
As a culmination or reward for the efforts of the children who participated in the program, the MFA held an art exhibit showcasing their work (on August 6, 2010.)
