From the Mystic Lake trailhead it is 8.71 miles to the summit of Mount Hague with an elevation gain of about 6,078 feet. That does not consider switchbacks and other variations from a straightline that add actual distance and elevation gain to the hike.
This is a photograph looking west from the big Cairn near the top of the switchbacks on the Phantom Creek Trail leading to the Froze to Death Plateau, looking across Mystic Lake to the northwest. Mount Hague is the high point on the horizon. The black line illustrates my approximate route. There is no established trail from Island Lake on up.
