starting off at pmin Square Station. Push the cart a bit and jump in before it gets to the booster (!)
It takes less than 30 seconds to get to Edge Hill station, more than twice as fast as walking.
Make sure the booster cart is in the right place (all the way at one end), otherwise you'll get stuck, and the only way out is /home
Again, check the booster cart position before you leave: animals can jump in and move it..
Not sure what those two sheep on the left are up to.
A nice buggy view from Edge Hill Station, discovering a hidden waterfall.
It is time we consider the environmental impact of what we're doing! Here is a "before" picture.
And after! And from the look of it, development hasn't finished here yet..
After reconnecting, another ghost of myself, stuck after what must have been a horrific accident.
another shot of the same valley,
as yet unnamed (?)
what happens when you blow up a couple of chests. On a local copy of Voxelia I gave myself lots of TNT, and started griefing my own structures :-)
the house my daughter built (well with some help, she is almost 6). It's near Edge Hill station.
Always good to research your destination before you take the cart down.
Arrived at level 12, the rendering glitch gives a nice overview of the area.
more lava pools visible because of the glitch
from pmin Square Station, 3 destinations to choose from using 2 track switches (lava pools, Edge Hill, and "West" (about 500 meters in 1 minute 25 seconds))
can't get enough of these cave shots, still a couple of them unlit :)
the jet set willy area has a jump now
start from pmin Square Station with a door booster now. More or less a straight copy from the one at http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=101623
spawn using the ScribbleCraft texture pack
Fusty's (?) channel w. ScribbleCraft texture pack
more ScribbleCraft texture pack
the little tree farm with ScribbleCraft textures
the door booster shown with
ScribbleCraft (the booster car is in the wrong spot, by the way, it should be right against the ladder)
cheating using a transparent texture pack (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=90815)
(this dungeon I had found before though)
beta 1.0.2, unrendered chunk bug.
You can ride over it in a cart, but you can't walk over it (you won't fall, but the client starts glitching like mad)
just a view looking south,
pmin square at the bottom right
unloaded chunks in the distance (?), showing up as loads of trees on small stone hills (?!)
north side unloaded chunks. The road is a connecting road from the cactus farm/pmin square to the northerly east-west road (forgot the name, and it's not on the google docs map)
older picture (Nov 2010), looking at pmin square from the south
Eric's locust, with funky unloaded chunks in the distance
beta 1.2, new tree type, except the trunk & leaves are invisible :)
another seethrough bug (beta 1.2_01), top of an oven
pmin square, 14/Jan/11, looking north
rediscovering walkways. Busy turning pmin square even more into a crazy scientist/nightmare/Bond movie environment. Make sure to watch the full size version for the full effect :)
new walkway to a mountain near Rosie Kensit's place.
put multiple ovens side by side to get a larger view down. Here I'm checking to see where the caves are wrt. a staircase.
view over pmin square from a new elevated track going round the area.
on the elevated track, a bit SE from the square, looking through unloaded chunks again. If you look carefully you can see the lava station.
the hidden valley. This was a piece of the map hadn't been generated for the longest time. When finally someone visited it, the server had been updated, and the landscape didn't match anymore. Cool place, hard to find. Now the line Ghoom Station <-> Crazy Scientist's Area is running through it.
building the track from Ghoom Station to Crazy Scientist's Area, getting closer. Eric's track is visible in the distance.
Scary start of the ride :-)
On the "loop" around pmin square, at dawn.
And a little later. Two unloaded chunks as you can see.
Can't get enough of "unloaded chunks" screenshots :)
Going down this diagonal track (and down only it goes), my cart got stuck in the stone.
All ready for some track laying to Jet Set Willy :)
note that I properly cooled the CPU to 26 degrees beforehand :)
Along the track Ghoom <-> Jet Set Willy. The cart ahead is a booster cart.
Same spot, looking up.
Along the Ghoom<->JSW track I ran into a staircase. This is what I found at the top :)
And from the same spot you can see the older Spawn <-> pmin square track in the distance.
A bit further down Ghoom<->JSW I dug up for some water, here's a postcard :)
View from Ghoom Station, looking SE. I suddenly wondered what it would be like if someone dropped lava on top of that tree overthere.
So here goes :)
back at Ghoom. I haven't been back in a while, but I should.
A shot not from Voxelia, but this "survivor.discovr.us" server. This gives you a good sense of what this world is like. A lot of "construction", little imagination.
A bit further along the bridge, looking back.
Dawn from the top of Eric's Abode in the survivor.discovr.us server.
A little later, Eric fighting mobs.
The first, rather useless, moat.
Oddly enough, I hadn't left the door open (?!)
Experimenting with a minecraft to OBJ exporter (runs on Mac only unfortunately). This is the Voxelia spawn area with Gooch shading (kind of)
importing it into blender
still in blender, flat shaded.
first attempt at a render, single spotlight in top left, no setting of materials
pmin square, changed the water & torches a bit (added some emitted light to the torches to make them more visible)
my daughter (6) had to do a "show and tell" about "materials" in school, and of course it was about coal and diamond :)
(this is one of the pictures she used)
cool area on djpowell's new server
starting our expedition to find a mob spawner, only I have an unloaded chunk.
digging up from the spawner room, never nice to find a creeper waiting for you, motionless, staring :)
imagine getting to the top of a hill and seeing this.. What's with that tree?
another shot of this area
on top of the floater that's casting the large shadow, looking down
the dark area keeps the monsters alive during the day
djpowell is going to build a grinder here. This is the "before" shot.
djpowell prepping the area.
the finished product.
another grinder near spawn, which I somehow cannot get to render correctly
travelling by minecart to another grinder..
a creeper created this leak, now how to save the octopi?
looking down from one of the floating islands
a whirlpool grinder?
back in Voxelia, suddenly much larger chunk loading problems
partially loaded Jet Set Willy, in the process of being converted from sand to wool
JSW done in wool
Jet Set Willy redone in "raised" wool and obsidian
area NW of JSW.
The track is maybe the "scenic track" that Eric made along the Ghoom<>JSW line
looking up from "The Pit"
(on the right you can see space cut out for a track, to be built)
huge lag on the server, chunk loading can't keep up when riding a cart. At least now I know where to find some diamonds :)
so I'm getting further and further away from the loaded world..
as far as this! Note Lode Runner and the Parthecube in the distance.
still had to take some screenshots of Heaven's Teardrop for the binvox/viewvox album.
Heaven's Teardrop, by FustyWumpus
and as seen from a hot air balloon
by night.. :)
The Dark Woods.
getting close to the Worley Proving Grounds. You can see a bit of the underground logic.
Worley Proving Grounds
wandering around near JSW, saw this !?!
this tree has been bugging me for a while. Not anymore.
This is the hill-to-be-turned-into-a-dance-club. The chicken can't wait.
floor in place, and log support pillars. Wouldn't want the whole thing to come crashing down in the middle of a party.
Sunrise behind the club
looking west, JSW is on the left. That medium sized hill to the right of the middle is to be the site of a new rollercoaster experiment.
looking down from said hill.
work in progress on the rollercoaster hill, to the left
making a little high walkway / viewing gallery on the side (to right of JSW)
a few plain up-down lines on rollercoaster hill
a new style door booster/cart dispenser. Pushing the connected button (to the right) will deliver one cart to the launching point
looking north, rollercoaster hill in the distance. Lode Runner is just beyond the far clipping plane.
A trip to the finished St. Pancras station, which looks great. Looking at this shot, I think now we need a haunted house somewhere.
St. Pancras interior.
experimenting with a solution for two lines arriving at the same spot, and a switch to go back either way
same solution, squeezed a bit :-)
looking down rollercoaster hill. A 2nd new door booster in place, to launch the cart delivered by the first
djpowell's cactus farm in Grinderworld Deux, as seen from level 129 :)
about to commit suicide. The light blue speck is djpowell, who will take screenshots
the view from below, as seen by djpowell. First of a set of 3 "rapid fire" screenshots :)
1 second later..
and another second later. Did I twist in mid-air?
(your creative caption here)
Back in Voxelia. found this chest on the way to New Spawn Point, and I can't open it (?!)
the Sandstone Inn that greets you after the 3km hike to New Spawn Point :)
the Sandstone Inn at New Spawn Point, built by morgan3d
the long hike back to JSW, some structure near New Spawn Point
this must have been the scene of the Great Forest Fire
also part of the Great Forest Fire of yore
almost at JSW, what's this?
digging down to a dungeon near JSW, using a transparent texture pack, on a mission to find bones (why are there no bones in dungeons??)
You can see part of the line JSW-The Pit-Lake Vostok station
revolving pig in spawner
at night the transparent texture pack makes life difficult. Underground train track visible
had some problems updating my skin. Turns out it was black lines + transparent pixels, and you can't do transparency in skin textures.
so white lines it is then :)
To get a better view of the HiLo line from the JSW->HiLo line, I decided to get rid of some trees
getting there. Note the nice view of the line :)
I now decide I need a shot of the moon behind the pumpkin
Later I manage to burn part of the line by accidentally setting fire to the two large trees supporting it :(
It looks like with 1.5 now the ordering of putting rails on a slope matters
We need a shot like this every once in a while :)
Here's the plan to transport cobble from JSW to HiLo: Rosie waits at HiLo, I will send powered minecarts pushing chest minecarts from JSW (in this shot I'm still at HiLo)
From the wiki I figured I need two powered carts to be able to go up a 45 degree slope
off they go
verifying that they arrived: I can see them, but Rosie can't (?!)
After disconnect and reconnect, the carts become visible. Here ready for the return journey
One of the two carts stopped on the way (on the right). But it turns out one powered cart is sufficient to go up a 45 degree slope
and back at JSW
sending multiple shipments now :)
You can barely see the 1st pair having arrived at the station (just right of the trees), and the 2nd on its way
both shipments arrived
both pairs on the way back
almost at JSW, the train stops :(
investigating: two carts switched places (!?)
a final shipment of 3 chests, collected from "The Pit" near JSW
two pairs on their way, travelling over unloaded track :)
